Via san juan de dios
this project focuses on the bioclimatic regeneration of a two-kilometer portion of the river, San Juan the dios, an urban river that is extremely polluted and marginalized located at the northern most part of the city of Guadalajara. the waterway is fed from the lake of Chapala and flows into the Santiago River, located at the bottom of the canyon, barranca de Huentitan, which is one of the most contaminated rivers in Mexico. the river San Juan de Dios crosses all Guadalajara and although the majority of the river has either been covered or converted into a canal, the portion taken into account is completely open. the intervention of this portion of the river aims to bring life back into the area through natural processes so the inhabitants that live around the river can have a better quality of life. the social, political, and natural impacts this project could cause are unimaginable and could be the beginning to fix the ongoing problems of division and marginalization most of the Mexican face.
